Valentines Party

Last weekend we celebrated the day of love by hosting a Valentines Day Fajita Dinner Party. If was a ton of fun and you can see in the pictures that a pre-requistie for entrance was to ware RED. (Sisters are the BEST!!!!) My cousin Leah who is an amazing party planner, hosted with me and helped cover our "tondo" in red! Balloons, plates, candy; it was all red with hearts and love roses creating a festive atmosphere. We played "blow a bubble", "Love Themed" Pictonay (most difficult phrase: Saint Valentine) and Sing. Great times. Highlights of the evening:
Belting Out "You are Loved" (Sing a song with the word.....) The spontaneous dance party at the end of the evening, my sisters Sangria (not for the faint of heart) and just talking with my sisters, Jeremy and Myles after the party was over.

Houston

Myles and I headed down to Houston on Saturday to celebrate his dad's 70th birthday and I've decided that while a rather ugly drive, it’s a great little road trip. Ever since we got the Audi we seem to make the journey in record time, even to the point of being compelled to stretch the truth a tad about just how fast we drive. I feel Ebby (my car) was created to fly down the German autobahn. She is brilliant-get her going about 85-90 MPH and she's simply hums in seeming bliss-like she's a Grey Hound that's finally let out to really run..... Anyway I digress.
The birthday was fun and low key and I think the highlight was getting to play with Jack and Molly. After my hiatus to New York, my budding relationship and plans to be the "favourite aunt" were developing slowly at best but over the holidays I feel we really bonded and it’s been so much fun! Molly is into being a princess, which couldn't delight me more, and she loves to paly "en character". My play name is Princess Sophia. :) There is something so cute about her flitting around the house saying" Princess Sophia would like some water...Princess Sophia...did you get lost in the forest?". I love it! Being an Aunt is a gift.

Myles and Me

This one is for LUCY!!!! I love my hubby and being married ROCKS. Honestly, I'm not just saying that because it’s what I'm supposed to say...or how I'm supposed to feel. I love it. Being with your best friend and your lover all the time is brilliant and wonderful. That day might come when I get the itch to oh, make some dramatic change like move to New York or Dubai with a month’s notice, and realize that my life is irrevocably tied to someone else. But tied in a beautiful godly way-in a lasting way that makes my life richer-and makes me better-(and after all who’s to say he won’t want to go as well…LOL)

Opinion VS Apathy?

My parents have always been politically involved and at a tender age I became a campaigner myself. I remember working my first phone bank and hanging up yard signs for David Williams (a conservative candidate for Fort Worth sheriff). At his victory party-feeling like my contributions actually made a difference I was hooked. And later as a page for the Republican State convention I got to "work" the stage as (then Governor) Bush gave a speech-shaking my hand as he walked away and sending me with a message to the "pit" which apparently no one was supposed to know about. Ah it was electric, and breathing in that environment with people who wanted to change, and felt they could...marked me. I think it immeasurably better for one to have an opinion, even if in violet contrast to my own, rather than be jailed by the apathy that binds so many of "my generation".
This election is charged and interesting-I feel its shaping the future in many ways. However,as the Texas primary approaches March 5th I’m still in a quandary. Not to say I haven’t made up my mind...6 times in fact. I’ve marched my way like a Roman footmen through the list of candidates: Giuliani-- Huckabee--Obama--Giuliani--McCain--Romney. Feeling at different points that I had found the candidate for me-only to discovery that my decision for various reasons didn’t sync. I don't know what I'll do in 1 month. I do know that when I make up my mind, I want to go apply myself whole-heartedly and whether I’m happy with the outcome or not, for the next four years I’ll know that I tried to make a difference working towards the "Change" that I felt was right. Thoughts anyone? Do you feel the same undecided anguish?

Weddings-The 2nd Coming

Sh0ut out to Lauren Bills who got married last Saturday. Myles and I headed down to Huntsville to see the nuptials and wish the couple well. One of the highlights of the trip was getting to see Ronni Jean, Tiffany, and Chevon. I realize again just how awesome my college friends are. Isn't it funny how its when you are with someone you haven’t seen in a while, in that moment the reality hits of just how much you miss their company. More to come on ACU 5 Year reunion-Ronnie and I are cooking up something awesome! Well, Lauren's wedding has kicked off for me "Wedding Mania 2008". She is to be followed by a high school friend in February, Jen's wedding in March, My sisters wedding in October, and my best friend Marjorie's wedding the next weekend. I have a strong reasonable suspicion that my cousin will be married this year as well, and I feel when its finished I will have been a bridesmaid 4 times in 2008. This however, is a delight to me because I've decided there is nothing more fun than being involved in a wedding, especially when its not your own. :) I suppose I say this in order to submit a small viewer discretion warning: blogs might become wedding themed. And now you will know that I'm not still obsessing about being a bride myself. But rather, simply enjoying the coming unions of my friends.
