1. Sat Am: Woke up at 5:45 am to run 11 miles with my group. It was slightly drizzling when we took off. I was hawking up all manner of disgusting stuff (a cold still lingering), but it was brilliant. The sky was gray and quiet there was no wind on our loop around the lake and I felt like I was in England. It was serene and beautiful I gazed over the lake as our feet hit the trails totally lost in the tranquillity of that moment.
I finished strong and felt inordinately happy that I had "beat" my body in a seance and run hard despite a cold and body aches and the mental challenge of pushing yourself when you know you are not up-to-par. At the DRC club house afterwards some saint had brought Einstein Bagels for everyone and at home eating my tasted bagel loaded with honey nut cream cheese I was simply blissful.
2. After getting cleaned up I went to the Salvation Army to peruse their furniture inventory. I was about 15 min too late for a beautiful set from Pier 1 that was in perfect condition. I love going there: a. it reminds me of how very fortunate I am to have an option of buying something new vs the simple diversion of potentially finding a good deal and b. its fun hunting through their stuff-I once found this beautiful pair of slightly worn cowboy boots that I still ware today.
3. I followed my trip to SA with a stop at the downtown public library. I LOVE the library, I can literally feel my heart start to beat faster as I walk through the doors and my eyes greedily take in the rows of books, movies, and CD's. So much to learn about and enjoy right at my finger tips. The downtown library could be called a bit rough I suppose. I am fairly often the only white, female, non-employee patron. Additionally, on the main flour there are usually quite a few homeless looking people, sometimes fighting over the Internet or swaying back and forth and mumbling incoherent rhetoric, and sometimes just sitting quietly thumbing through books or magazines. (And no, they do not always smell pleasant.) Again its a good reminder of the world we live in-how easy it is to become ensconced in our little bubble of a life (for us near Park Cities) and not realize how blessed we are to be where we are have live the life we live.
I quickly filled my eco-friendly bag with DVD's for the weekend, some CD's and a few books. I was elated and jubilant upon filing a Masterpiece version of Jane Eyre that I had not seen.
Also, in a most unusual turn-of-events for me, I was hit on (in two different floors) by African American youths who work at the library. "how you doin?" with a slow un-clandestine gaze up and down my physiognomy & person seemed to be the pick-up line of the day. A quick flit of my "angry blue eyes" (as Anna and Sarah like to call them) and a curt "fine thank you" followed by an utterly dismissive nod and I realized I still have the ability to freeze a guy quite effectively. I actually think they were a bit taken aback by my lack of even a bit of embarrassment or uncertainty. Don't mess with me when I'm on a focused hunt at the DPL.
4. Later that afternoon after a pit stop at Taco Cabana I talked Myles into going to Northpark with me, and as we were driving over I was thinking what a paradoxical day it was. From Salvation Army where large Latin family's loaded up worn couches in their weathered pickup trucks, to the Downtown Library which aside from the rows of books, could have been a street corner on the south side of Dallas, to Northpark of all places where materialism hangs heavy in the air. How to absorb it all?
Banana Republic was having a ridiculous sale so I picked up a couple of things there, and then headed to Macy's for Bonus time and Victoria's Secret to use my birthday coupons. We went to Sprinkles afterwards I wanted to celebrate my good sales and got the Peanut Butter Chocolate Cupcake which Jodi and I have decided undoubtedly is worth every calorie.

5. I spent the rest of the afternoon reading and watching movies.
6. Impromptu dinner with Paul and Katie was a blast at a place called Cowboy Chow, I selected brisket layered with mashed potatoes, Texas caviar and cheese severed in a pickling jar-it was delish and I highly recommend you try it out.
7. Myles went to bed after that to try and beat his flu symptoms and I stayed up to watch Jane Eyre until my eyes started drooping. Brilliant.
8. Sunday-Church was so good. I am truly inspired every week by Chris' messages and it makes me want strive to be a better Christian and follow after God's heart more diligently in the coming week.
9. Finished Jane Eyre while Myles napped. (it was 6 hours long after all.)10. Quick trip to Highland Park Village to use my Anthropology b-day coupon. I should just never go there. I might have gone a little insane but amoung other things I did get the CUTEST dress to ware on my b-day. http://www.anthropologie.com/: Type in The Grand-Holiday Dress. Its just lovely.
Anyway-I know I haven't updated in a while and instead of going back I just decided to tell you what a great and boring weekend I had.
